It is important to make that distinction and keep it in mind at all times when communicating. However, it is impossible to communicate business benefits if you don’t understand the business. Therefore, get involved in the organization, meet people, understand their “world” and, most importantly, ask questions and listen.
As you develop relationships and get to know the business, you will not only be increasing the chances of success on all your IT projects, but you will also be putting a face to what typically is the invisible department known as “IT”
